The Senior Manager- Quality Engineering will help build the Quality Engineering practice which will focus on ensuring Quality is owned by all teams involved in the software development lifecycle starting with architecture, requirements and development. You will help build the process to ensure behavioural driven testing is implemented, and automation is used where applicable. In addition, you will lead a technical testing team on important programs and projects ensuring proper testing is being performed to deliver high quality software products in a complex environment. You will also need to create scripts and perform manual testing where required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the QA team during test planning, preparation and execution. Manage testing resources and their allocation, and ensure test team delivers projects on time and on budget
- Contribute to the growth of the Quality Engineering practice by helping define the enterprise quality engineering objectives, standards, create and maintain supporting documentation and artifacts. Identify and implement opportunities to improve quality of delivery, increase efficiency, effectiveness and ensure proper risk mitigation
- Introduce key quality engineering concepts to ensure quality is an integral part of the software development life cycle
- Create product and release testing strategy including automation and behavioral driven development where possible and drive automation where applicable
- Work closely with release management, architecture and development teams to improve and automate the deployment process. Lead the creation of the automated regression suite to ensure proper smoke tests are preformed
- Create testing environments strategy to reduce testing environments downtime
- Create overall testing strategy and approach for all of testing required for various projects spanning digital front end to back end systems including data warehouse. Strategy would include functional, non-functional, integration, performance, security and user acceptance testing
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage is in place by producing well organized test plans and test cases with appropriate requirement coverage
- Perform defect management where required
- Define metrics and key performance indicators to communicate the progress of testing and measure the quality of the deliverable throughout the software lifecycle
- Provide subject matter expertise, helps lead the QA team and be a trusted advisor to the business
- Demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills required to clearly articulate and explain the testing approach
Qualifications
University or college degree in any related field with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience as a Testing professional, with at least 2 in a leadership roleExperience with different testing automation tools such as Selenium, UFT, CucumberExperience with API tools such as SOA Test, Rest AssuredExperience with continuous integration tools and source control systems such as BitBucket, Jenkins, and Atlassian SuiteExperience with Code Coverage tools to measure automation effectiveness would be an assetExperience in Agile software development projectsStrong leadership skillsKnowledge of the banking and financial sectorsStrong team player with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environmentBilingual (English / French) verbal and written communication skills are an asset .At Laurentian Bank, we value diverse experiences and expertise.
