(some evenings and weekends may be required.)Salary Range : $28.55 - $41.03 per hourProposed Start Date : June 17, 2024Trial / Probation Period : 420.00 work hours For more information, please contact : Kelly Ross513 - 715 McDermot Avenue204-789-3968 or KRoss@ : - Links, merges, organizes, cleans, manipulates, and manages data for different projects.- Selects subsets of data or samples for different projects.- Compiles datasets for different projects.- Maintains an organized filing system for a variety of datasets and new variables.- Analyzes data using various statistical methods, techniques, and software.- Generates statistical output, summarizes this output, and assists in its interpretation.- Generates figures to summarize data and results.- Explores new data analysis techniques, including machine learning techniques.- Co-develops research analysis plans in consultation with principal investigators.- Translates technical specifications (verbal or written) into appropriate R code.- Diagnoses sources of errors in programming logic and makes necessary corrections in own and other programs.- Develops technical documentation on database characteristics, computer code, and concepts for use by principal investigators and other research team members.- Participates in the development of research publications to 1) ensure that methods of database development and analysis are accurately described in these publications, 2) describe and interpret research results, and 3) contextualize results in relation to relevant literature.- Advises and guides junior lab members on the usage of statistical methods, software, and programming.- Performs literature reviews as requested by principal investigators.- Presents research results in various formats (manuscripts, posters, presentations).- Assists with research administration tasks (e.g., submitting manuscripts and reports).- Coordinates research team meetings (e.g., distributing agendas, taking minutes, coordinating follow-up action items).Qualifications : MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION / TRAINING : - A Bachelor of Science required, MSc in Immunology, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer or Data Science preferred. EXPERIENCE : - Experience managing, cleaning and manipulating large datasets required.- Experience with biostatistics and / or epidemiology required.- Experience with statistical software (R) including strong coding skills required.- Quantitative research experience required.- Experience analyzing immune biomarker (O-link), microbiome or other omics data preferred.- Experience analyzing birth cohort datasets preferred.- Experience creating scientific posters and presentations required.- Experience with machine learning an asset- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : - Strong data visualization skills.- Advanced training in biostatistics and / or epidemiology.- Strong written communication skills.- Enthusiasm for research and data visualization.- Strong communication skills (both written and oral).- Detail oriented.- Open-minded (both scientifically and culturally).- Able to teach, guide and assist other members of the research team.- Self-motivated. Thinks outside the box.
