KV Capital’s private mortgage division manages a mortgage portfolio of short term residential, commercial, and construction mortgages. KV Capital conducts in-house underwriting and provides funding to borrowers located in Canada under real estate secured financing transactions.

POSITION Junior Analyst , Loan Administration

LOCATION Edmonton, Alberta

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the Loan Administration team, the Junior Analyst plays a role in supporting the servicing and administration of KV Capital’s commercial mortgage loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will understand key loan concepts and terminology (interest calculations, flow of funds, loan to value, etc.), communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external parties, and enter data and process transactions for all types of commercial and residential mortgages. Your ability to work efficiently, pay close attention to detail, and strong technical ability will be critical in this role.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Loan servicing and administration activities including (but not limited to) :

  • Accurately entering loan transactions into servicing software according to the parameters specified in loan documents.
  • Maintaining accurate loan records (principal balances, charges, property information, security values, loan to value, etc.) and investor portfolio balances.
  • Supporting post-closing activities, such as renewals, amendments, discharges, and account administration.
  • Processing mortgage payment collections and remitting payments to investors.
  • Monitoring the portfolio, including resolving basic default events (e.g., bounced payments) through effective communication and coordination with investors and borrowers to address performance issues.
  • Preparing and distributing statements to borrowers, investors and solicitors.
  • Reviewing of loan agreements, loan security, and various other source documentation to ensure appropriate tracking in the systems.
  • Monitoring trust accounts and assisting in the bank reconciliation process.
  • Assisting with the collection, entry, and reconciliation of financial and property data for loan reviews, aiding in the administration of construction advances, and preparing documents for issuance to external parties
  • Gaining proficiency in internal systems and software.
  • Helping to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, legal, ethical, privacy and regulatory requirements
  • Delivering exceptional client service to institutional lenders and direct investors, including fulfilling periodic reporting requirements and adhering to Service Level Agreements with precision.
  • Assisting in the preparation of various internal reporting requirements.
  • Special projects or other duties, as required.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to navigate complex financial transactions and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Advanced technical computing skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work proactively and adapt to a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A willingness to embrace learning in a dynamic environment that encourages new ideas and embraces change.
  • Personal interest, working knowledge, and / or experience in the real estate or commercial mortgage industry.
  • Positive, upbeat attitude, with the ability to take on challenges and seek solutions.
