Clinical Therapist
Kinark Child and Family Services is seeking a Clinical Therapist to join a dynamic, community‑based child and youth mental health program in the Northumberland region.

Remote & Work Schedule
This role is classified as a Roamer position and requires a minimum of 3 days in the office plus two evenings per week (until 8pm), dependent on client need. Employees may opt‑in to a partial or full remote work benefit if eligible. The role is also eligible for a compressed work‑week program upon successful completion of the probationary period.
Job Summary
The Clinical Therapist is an integral part of a busy, growing clinical program. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Therapist will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide individual, family, and / or group therapy to high‑risk and complex children, youth, and families in both office‑based and community‑based settings. Evening work is required based on client needs.
Contract Details
This is a temporary full‑time position with an 18‑month contract. Salary ranges from $40.25 (Level 1) to $44.38 (Level 3). The position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 2860. Internal applicants will be considered first.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete an initial comprehensive assessment considering mental health issues, substance use, and medical conditions.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
- Use commitment strategies to engage clients and assess readiness and stage of change.
- Develop thorough formulation and treatment plans in collaboration with collateral sources and the multidisciplinary team.
- Modify treatment activities and approaches as client status changes.
- Deliver interventions using evidence‑based practices, with ongoing monitoring of clinical outcomes.
- Promote youth’s potential for developing / sustaining pro‑social behaviours and self‑regulation of mental health symptoms (e.g., substance use, conflict management, anger management).
- Self‑monitor and document progress and contact notes, ensuring alignment with treatment goals and policy.
- Collaborate with team members and participate in inter‑agency / team meetings.
Qualifications
A Master’s Degree in Social Work or a Health‑Related Discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred).Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with extensive and relevant experience also considered.Full registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Social Worker, or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).Eligibility to perform Psychotherapy as defined under the act.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a mental health setting.Excellent clinical assessment, formulation, and treatment planning skills.Training and / or experience in Triple P – Positive Parenting, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Brief Therapy are assets.Experience providing a broad range of clinical services to child and adolescent populations with diverse clinical challenges.Demonstrated expertise in family therapy, brief models, and advanced group skills with children and parents.Computer competency and ability to work with diverse cultures.Valid Ontario driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and willingness to obtain automobile insurance with a minimum liability of one million dollars.#J-18808-Ljbffr
