The Role : As an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will provide high-quality, specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to monitor, assess, and manage the care of neonates, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their hospital stay.
Responsibilities :
Assess and monitor neonates' health status, including vital signs, medication administration, and adherence to treatment plans.
Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Educate and support families on their newborn’s condition, treatment options, and care practices.
Advocate for the needs and rights of patients, addressing any ethical concerns and ensuring the highest standard of care.
Ensure adherence to established protocols, policies, and best practices to maintain patient safety.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation for each patient.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continually enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.
Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience.
Current BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications.
ACORN or STABLE Certification (Preferred but not required).
Breast feeding education (Preferred but not required).
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
