The Professional Practice Office is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (until June 20, 2025) Nurse Educator. Reporting to the Manager of Nursing, Interprofessional Practice and Education and working collaboratively with the Clinical Program leadership team, you will play a key role in contributing to quality client care for CAMH clients. The core functions of the role will be dedicated to education of point-of-care staff and practice development. You will be responsible for advancing professional practice within clinical areas, inclusive of the inpatient Crisis Critical Care program, by contributing to the development of high-performing interprofessional clinical teams. In collaboration with program leadership, unit managers and advanced practice clinical lead(s), you will be engaged in assessing and developing clinical and leadership skills of point-of-care staff. Key areas of educational focus will include scope of practice issues; interprofessional careplanning; application of best practices at the point-of-care; as well as individual clinician and clinical team development. You will bring your knowledge of best practices in teaching / learning for clinical staff, education development and delivery, in the care of adults with acute and complex mental illnesses and concurrent medical and / or addiction disorders. You will also support clinical staff in the implementation of education initiatives such as patient safety initiatives, implementation of clinical policies & procedures, use of the I-CARE, and the orientation of new employees to the program. Your role will further include, in collaboration with unit managers, some responsibilities for recruitment and performance management of staff, monitoring of clinical quality improvement measures; program planning, involvement in program research / evaluation and other academic activities. This position will be based at 1001 Queen Street West and includes days, evenings, and weekend hours.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and must possess a current BCLS(CPR) certificate. Five (5) years of experience within the mental health field is essential. Specific experience with clients with severe mental health and addiction issues and / or forensic histories is considered an asset. A BN / BScN degree and computer literacy are also required. MN / MScN or other relevant Master’s degree is preferred. Previous teaching experience is essential. CNA certification in psychiatric / mental health nursing would be considered an asset. The incumbent will have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in challenging clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour, as well as effective decision-making and problem solving skills. You will be highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills to facilitate working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment. You will also have the ability to foster and create a learning environment, and to motivate and challenge, and have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
