Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Work within the group at the Royal Bank of Canada responsible for overseeing the critical operation of the Enterprise Data Centres;

specifically, to gain experience with the complex mechanical and electrical engineering systems that are integral to the successful operation of the Data Centres with optimal uptime’.

What will you do?

• Assist with the design and optimization of the mechanical and electrical engineering systems.
• Perform calculations pertaining to electrical and mechanical power usage and optimization.
• Document new technical operational processes and update existing ones.
• Extract data from Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool and manipulate the data in Excel to generate reports identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Create automation for existing manual operational processes.
• Analyze historical data and trends of equipment to identify root-cause of equipment failures and recommend improvements.
• Create libraries in SharePoint, FMS, Nlyte, ServiceNow / Nuvolo structured for the collection and retrieval of critical information.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Strong communication skills
• Strong engineering and analytical skills
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint, Word and Excel
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work without direct supervision in a remote team

Nice-to-have

• Previous experience in a Data Centre environment
• Previous experience working with complex mechanical engineering systems, including Cooling Plant, or complex electrical engineering systems, including electrical Generation Plants
• Experience with DCIM software
• Excel macro knowledge
