Position Summary

A process engineer is an engineering professional who is responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting processing systems across the entire McAsphalt operations. This role involves providing technical leadership, performing complex engineering analyses, and contributing to the multidisciplinary project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operation. The process engineer is also responsible for the technical and managerial aspects of specific engineering projects as well as providing engineering support to the company’s plants and departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform process design, heat & material balances, and equipment sizing.
• Develop and update PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations and control narratives.
• Lead or support FEED, FEL, detailed engineering, debottlenecking studies, and process optimization initiatives.
• Review hazard identification (HAZID), HAZOP, and ensure compliance with applicable codes (API, ASME, CSA, ISO).
• Analyze operational data to troubleshoot process issues and recommend improvements.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, design basis memoranda, and project deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge-sharing within the team.
• Provide timely plant support during peak operating season to minimize down time (e.g. troubleshooting, coordinating contractors and suppliers, arranging for replacement equipment and recommending alternate operating procedures to maintain production).
• Provide general engineering support to plant managers, maintenance and the cross functional team as required.
• Devise methods for improving performance at various plants.
• Travel to plants is required to fulfill duties regarding Capital Projects and Support.
• Continue developing applicable engineering standards design templates and tools.
