We are looking for a  Manager – Mine Maintenance  to translate strategic objectives into tactical objectives for operations, maintenance, and technical teams. The work of the Manager role requires excellent leadership capability, ability to understand and learn technical concepts and information, and excellent communication skills in a wide variety of contexts.

This role is a great opportunity to lead and embed the implementation of the Rio Tinto Safe Production System (RTSPS) within the Mine Maintenance Team. RTSPS upholds our global benchmark standards and best practices across Rio Tinto globally.

Reporting to the General Manager Mine and Ore Delivery and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will :

  • Ensure input, agreement and execution of the weekly / monthly / annual / 5-yr planning targets and ensure your team is aligned to execute the plan
  • Provide the necessary resources, coaching, and leadership that your teams require to execute the plan
  • Working with your team and others to establish best in class performance in Asset Management objectives (availability, reliability, productivity and cost)
  • Lead a team of 250 in Mobile Maintenance, Field Maintenance and Electrical maintenance for the mine
  • Develop and manage your cost budget to minimize cost, achieve full production targets, and maintain the health and capability of the equipment
  • Define the staffing levels and capability assessment necessary to ensure your teams are trained and able to deliver the plan
  • Act as an influential leader

    • What you’ll bring ​

  • Demonstrated success in HSE performance and understanding of the systems and behaviors necessary to achieve excellence
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a combination of relative technical trades qualification and experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an operational and maintenance role with increasing positions of responsibility and a demonstrated track record of success
  • Extensive technical and practical understanding of open pit mining and maintenance practices for Haul trucks, electric shovels, electric drills, mine auxiliary equipment and dewatering systems in an open pit setting
  • Understanding and application experience of work management process related to equipment maintenance
  • Demonstrated skills in stakeholder management within an integrated operation
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills for : informal presentations, project and production updates, hosting / attending work meetings or problem-solving sessions, and in support of day-to-day interactions in the field or in an office setting
