With a collaborative and supportive culture, thepany's opportunity consists ofmuting to the office Monday to Friday with flexible work arrangements, including flexible hours and onsite parking.Your new roleThepany is seeking a General Accountant to join their team and assist the Controller. This is a newly created position designed to support increased accounting workload and provide expertise in manufacturing and contracting accounting. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial management.
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, with a focus on the contracting field (holdbacks, job billing, progress draws, and statutory declarations)
- Manage and process subcontractor invoicing and customer payments
- Prepare and review weekly aged A / R reports; follow up on overdue accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Post daily cash receipts, reconcile customer and vendor transactions, and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks
- Generate progress and holdback billings for active projects; coordinate with project managers to ensure billing accuracy
- Produce weekly cash collection forecasts and support senior leadership with financial reporting
- Accurately process vendor / subcontractor invoices, ensuring proper documentation and purchase order alignment
- Investigate invoice discrepancies, overbills, and support resolution of billing issues
- Reconcile vendor statements and execute weekly cash requirement lists for subcontractors
- Set up new projects in QuickBooks and maintain project-related records
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statement preparation and internal reporting
- Support year-end review and audit processes by providing supporting documentation as required
- Perform credit card reconciliations, expense allocation, and distribution
- Maintainpliance withpany accounting policies and internal controls
- Other ad hoc duties as required to support the finance function
What you'll need to succeed
Years of accounting experience, ideally in a contracting, or manufacturing environmentSolid understanding of subcontractor invoicing, construction billing, and holdback processesProficiency with QuickBooks (experience with other ERP / accounting systems such as Jonas or Sage is an asset)High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially ExcelStrongmunication, follow-up, and organizational skillsDetail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to detect trends and irregularitiesAbility to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate with project managers and ownership as neededWhat you'll get in return
