Reporting to the a Drilling or Completions Engineer, the student will interface with and support the Drilling, Completions and Interventions (DCI) data analytics work scopes, to support the gated well design process for offshore wells to drilled and completed from the West White Rose Wellhead Platform.

This involves supporting project planning, project management, detailed well engineering analysis, creation and review of documentation and decision support packages.

What you’ll do

Perform exploratory data analysis on historical well files using Python.

Classify files based on contents

Develop standard schemas for the data.

Link data to existing database entries.

Develop dashboards & visualizations form the data using Python, Spotfire, & Power BI.

Assist with maintenance of existing tables and dashboards.

Support department with data requirements for detailed well engineering.

Project management - develop, document and track plans through implementation and execution

Review and update technical documentation.

Take part in the creation of technical engineering documents.

Participation in innovative thinking, identification and application of new technologies for value creation.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications :

Legally eligible to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

Available to begin work in September 2024

Knowledge of programming languages (Python)

Understanding of engineering principles such as hydrostatics, stresses and buckling.

Understanding of Drilling operations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Strong technical skills (MS Excel, Power BI, MS Visio).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment.

Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions.

Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals.

Organizational skills, ability to plan, document, track progress and achieve results.

Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize

Education

Must be enrolled in an Engineering Program (all disciplines will be considered) at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
