Senior Law Clerk, Business Law – BDO Canada (Toronto, Ontario)
We are seeking an experienced law clerk to draft, review, and manage legal documents, support due diligence, ensure compliance, and collaborate across functions.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, contracts, corporate governance materials, and other legal correspondence.
- Support legal teams during due diligence processes by gathering and organizing necessary documents and data.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements for corporate clients.
- Communicate effectively with clients, lawyers, and other internal departments to ensure smooth legal processes.
- Conduct legal research and provide summary reports on various legal topics, cases, and legislation.
- Maintain and organize legal files and documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including accountants and consultants, to support cross‑functional legal services.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5‑7 years of experience as a Law Clerk with substantial exposure to corporate and commercial law matters.
- Diploma or certification from a recognized Law Clerk program.
- Proficiency in corporate law procedures, legal terminology, and corporate compliance.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience with corporate filing systems, minute book management, and electronic legal documentation.
- Familiarity with Canadian business law, regulations, and corporate governance.
