Job description

Infrastructure Sub‑Sector Lead (Western Canada)

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 700+ team of environmental/regulatory professionals across over 20 office locations in Canada. SLR is a leading consulting firm delivering over 30 technical disciplines helping our clients reach their environmental and sustainability goals. With over 25 years of experience, we are a recognized leader in environmental and advisory solutions.

As our new Infrastructure Sub‑Sector Lead (Western Canada), you will take on a challenging and diverse role focused on building strong relationships within our existing client base, building the business and positioning SLR for the future in the evolving landscape of infrastructure advancements and investment. Clients of interest include provincial and municipal governments (e.g., BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit, Metro Vancouver), ports (e.g., Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, Port of Victoria), rail (e.g., CN, CP), airports (e.g., Vancouver International Airport), and the construction and engineering firms that service these client groups. Working under the guidance of our National Sector Lead, you’ll coordinate the needs of diverse clients with SLR service offerings, aligning both towards common goals focused on business growth and client value.

This role operates at the intersection of business development and technical expertise, which is why you’ll need to excel at relationship building and program management. Ideally, you’ll bring significant experience on both the consultant and client sides of the equation, with proven strategies for developing new business opportunities and deep knowledge of the challenges faced by existing and emerging clients in the infrastructure marketplace.

  • Lead our infrastructure sector in western Canada by developing and implementing strategies to expand our services while enhancing our marketplace presence and client portfolio.
  • Support key proposals and contribute to the development and implementation of service line, business sector, and client business development plans.
  • Identify trends and create a long‑term strategy that positions SLR with key clients and key portions of the market, providing for sustainable growth.
  • Establish a client‑management team for key target clients and work to help them grow and build their client‑management skills.
  • Work with our Technical Disciplines to identify skills gaps, and actively mentor, build, and recruit those technical skills to fulfil our growth plan.
  • Champion an integrated services approach, driving growth opportunities for the full suite of SLR services.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and strong working relationships with industry leaders, as well as stakeholders across SLR.
  • Survey client needs, developing a detailed understanding of project objectives, scope, and ideal outcomes.
  • Be a resource for clients as the primary contact on key issues, providing perspective and feedback to SLR delivery teams.
  • Generate ongoing strategies for improving client satisfaction and sector growth.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and market issues, providing reports, analysis, and recommendations where relevant.
  • Lead teams and facilitate successful program and project delivery with respect to health & safety, scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC and client satisfaction.

We want to be a place where you can experience career growth and satisfaction for many years.

Here’s what else you’ll enjoy as part of our team:

  • Competitive total compensation package including comprehensive benefits, vacation, and a suite of wellness initiatives.
  • The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. Final agreed‑upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
  • Full‑time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
