General Description : A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

Schedule Hours : Part Time.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets, and cleaning windows (on request).
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior / exterior; wash / spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures include damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, and sweeping / mopping / scrubbing floors.
• Assist the supervisor with other tasks as needed.
• Monitor possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and report to supervisors.
• There will be showers; staff may need to move between two buildings.
• Collect building trash daily and place it in the approved container for designated removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specifications.
• High dusting and wall washing; operate heavy-duty machines; lifting up to 50 lbs; changing garbage as required.
