Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Clubroot Inspector - Seasonal to join our team for the May – November season. Reporting to the Manager – Agricultural Services, this exciting opportunity consists of inspecting agricultural (canola) fields to prevent the spread of clubroot. As a member of the Agricultural Services team, the Clubroot Inspector contributes to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

What you will do
- Contributes to the maintenance of the department’s agricultural programs by performing work and adhering to technical and municipal standards.
- Works with the Manager – Agricultural Services to coordinate clubroot operational activities.
- Performs clubroot management in compliance with the Alberta Agricultural Pests Act.
- Inspects fields and maintains detailed records of areas and fields.
- Monitors and issues notices as required on fields and areas known to contain clubroot.
- Responds to County resident requests and educates residents on the importance of controlling clubroot.
- Compiles field inspection results, conducts analysis and prepares written reports.
- Assists with other pest monitoring programs.
- Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
- Performs related duties as required and assigned.
What you need to succeed
Must-have
A high school diploma is required.A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license is required.Strong knowledge of clubroot, its symptoms, and its detection, is required.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools and other database and spreadsheet applications is required. The ability to synthesize and analyze data is required.A service focus with good communication and interpersonal skills is required in order to communicate clearly (both verbally and in writing), ensure mutual understanding and encourage teamwork in the implementation of duties.The ability to deliver presentations, and prepare clear, concise reports is required.Proven achievement of results is key to success in the role.Must be able to provide consistent, friendly, professional customer service.Nice to -have
A diploma in agriculture or related field is desired.A Pesticide Applicator license and knowledge of common weeds in the region are strong assets.An agricultural background is considered and asset.What’s in it for you

We offer a competitive hourly wage of between $22.65 – $28.31. The opportunity is seasonal full-time and is 40 hours per week, with some extended hours to meet operational requirements.
