Summary :
The Manager, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Regulatory and Compliance department, while providing answers and support to clients (internal and external) of a technical nature, including integration inquiries and general account set up. Ensure that new regulations issued by CBSA are communicated, implemented and complied with.
Duties :
- Provide support to sales department regarding new account set-ups, implement integration tools and answer client queries
- Act as advisor to clients regarding customs legislation, new initiatives, compliance and regulations while identifying regulatory opportunities as obtaining rulings and duty deferral applications
- Provide direction to and oversee the performance of the department
- Create and maintain reporting structure in CRM individually per client
- Approve newsflash’s for distribution to clients and branch
- Identify and recommend QC cases to help reduce errors
- Work toward departmental goals i.e. win to start
- Meet with team weekly for updates
- Stay current with upcoming regulatory changes impacting the Willson International client base
- Ensure all new CBSA / PGA initiatives are communicated to VP
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure goals are met while providing the best service to our clients
- Hold a position and be active on a board or committee relative to Regulatory requirements
- Occasional travel may be required
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Educational Requirements :
College and or University Degree preferably in International Trade or Customs Law.Professional License preferred or CTCS and CCS designation is requiredMinimum twelve (12) years customs brokerage, customs consulting, regulatory or similar professional services is required.Minimum of Five (5) years must be in a supervisory role.Working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products – word, excelStrong communication skills – verbal and written is requiredProblem solving, accuracy, attention to detail and analytical ability is requiredBilingual candidate an assetDecision Making Responsibilities :

Contacts are of importance and are a regular part of the responsibilities of the job. Tact and judgment are required when dealing with others.
Inside contacts involve the supervision of others; settling working arrangements that may be awkward and follow-up to ensure work flow is maintained. Presenting reports and information where tact and judgment is required to obtain approval of action, and / or co-operation, and / or secure a decision, generally at a management level.
Outside contacts involve dealing with complaints or service irregularities, judgment and tact in dealing with outside contacts are of importance. However, procedures and standards are established and are to be followed.
