Nature and Scope
The Faculty Development and LMS Coordinator is responsible for advancing instructional excellence and innovation across all SIIT programs. They play a key role in providing ongoing professional development for faculty and teaching staff. The role provides support for the integration of instructional content into the SIITs LMS, providing instructional design support to faculty, and ensuring alignment of courses with institutional quality assurance standards. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission and mandate.
General Accountability
The Faculty Development and LMS coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing teaching excellence and innovation across the academic unit. The position provides leadership in instructional professional development, and support in curriculum design, assessment strategies and the effective integration of educational technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
Central to this role is guiding faculty in the meaningful and pedagogically sound use of SIIT's Learning Management System (LMS) to foster engaging, learner-centered experiences. The Coordinator collaborates with staff to design and deliver courses that integrate interactive content, culturally grounded pedagogies, and current instructional practices that align with SIIT's academic quality standards. This position also provides leadership in instructional design, curriculum renewal, and faculty capacity-building, ensuring that teaching practices reflect both institutional standards and Indigenous pedagogical values. Through collaboration, coaching, and the facilitation of professional learning opportunities, the Coordinator supports faculty in strengthening their instructional effectiveness and digital fluency.

Required Qualifications and Experience : Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is considered an asset. Minimum 3 years of experience administering or supporting LMS platforms (Brightspace preferred) in a post-secondary or adult learning environment. Demonstrated experience in online course development, digital pedagogy, and multimedia integration. Proficient in applying accessibility standards responsive design principles, and universal design for learning (UDL). Strong technical troubleshooting skills and experience providing training and support to instructors or staff. Working knowledge of SCORM, HTML5, and digital content authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, H5P, or Adobe Captivate) is an asset. Familiarity with Indigenous pedagogies and cultural responsiveness in digital learning design is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
