How you'll make an impact

  • Ongoing administration of small / medium / large defined benefit pension plans
  • Calculate benefits (termination of employment, retirement, death, etc.) and prepare event statements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare payment authorizations for retirements, terminations and deaths
  • Participate in the preparation of annual statements for active and inactive plan members
  • Calculate pension adjustments, pension adjustment reversals, and past service pension adjustments
  • Create / update process documentation related to assigned tasks / projects
  • Produce ad hoc reports
  • Perform user acceptance testing
  • Address quality issues as they arise
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and sense of urgency to ensure client and / or participant expectations are consistently met
  • Manage workload and priorities in a high-pressure, high-volume environment
  • Ensure all work is peer reviewed
  • Back up and support other team members as required
  • Participate in training, special projects and other duties as assigned by the manager

About you

  • University degree or college diploma with demonstrable mathematical aptitude (actuarial science / mathematics degree is an asset) and / or related work experience
  • Experience in defined benefit pension plan administration an asset
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong accounting and mathematical skills
  • Proven relationship-building skills
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Client satisfaction focus and team-oriented work style
  • Ability to remain posed, patient, empathetic, tactful and composed while handling escalated issues
  • Solid oral and written communication skills - with particular emphasis on articulation and grammar
  • High ethical standards
