As Malach continues to expand, we are looking for a Facility Manager who can ensure our equipment, building systems, and workplace safety programs support a high performing, reliable, and safe manufacturing operation.

Your Impact :

The Facility Manager – Maintenance & Workplace Safety is responsible for the reliability, safety, and performance of Malach’s facility, equipment, and safety systems. This includes leadership of preventative and corrective maintenance, support of PLC-controlled equipment, and site-wide Workplace Safety & Health programs.

This role directly impacts production uptime, team member safety, ISO 9001 compliance, and overall plant stability. The Facility Manager plays a key role in protecting people, supporting operations, and ensuring Malach’s equipment and infrastructure can support current and future growth.

Primary Areas of Influence :

Maintenance & Asset Reliability :

  • Lead preventative and corrective maintenance across all production, facility, and material handling equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the preventative maintenance (PM) program to maximize uptime and reliability.
  • Manage maintenance schedules for CNC machines, laser systems, press brakes, welding equipment, compressors, dust collection, ventilation, and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Diagnose failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage spare parts, tooling, and contractor support.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, and relocations.
  • Controls, PLCs & Automation Support :

  • Support PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to sensors, safety interlocks, drives, HMIs, motors, and control circuits.
  • Work with engineering and OEMs to resolve control, safety, and machine faults.
  • Support reliability improvements and automation upgrades.
  • Workplace Safety & Health Leadership :

  • Act as the site safety lead and key member of the Workplace Safety & Health Committee.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Maintain lockout / tagout, machine guarding, confined space, hot work, and energy control programs.
  • Ensure all equipment meets CSA standards and Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards and lead corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support WCB, WSH, and regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance logs.
  • Emergency & Facility Systems :

  • Manage fire protection, gas detection, ventilation, emergency shutoffs, and life-safety systems.
  • Maintain emergency response plans, evacuation maps, and equipment shutdown procedures.
  • Coordinate drills, inspections, and emergency readiness activities.
  • ISO 9001 & Compliance :

  • Maintain maintenance and safety records required for ISO 9001 and COR.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Support corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure traceability and document control for maintenance, inspections, and safety systems.
  • Leadership & Communication :

  • Train and support team members on equipment safety, lockout / tagout, and safe work practices.
  • Support supervisors and leaders with hazard controls and safe operating procedures.
  • Communicate risks, downtime, and safety issues clearly to leadership and operations.
  • Qualifications :

  • Red Seal Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or equivalent trade certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance and facility operations.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, industrial electrical and mechanical systems, CNC, laser, and fabrication equipment.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems, machine guarding, and workplace safety programs.
  • Key Competencies :
