Automation Advisor - Contract

Schedule : M-F, Trips to offshore FPSO as needed
Introduction
Reporting to the Manager of Process Engineering, the Automation Advisor is responsible for supporting, sustaining, and troubleshooting Operational Technology (OT) systems. The role involves managing OT system upgrades and security initiatives while providing day-to-day technical support for onshore and offshore environments. This position requires a proactive problem-solver who can adapt to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
System Sustainment & Support
Provide daily user support and troubleshoot OT systems and applications.
Conduct system hardening activities to maintain secure and stable operations.
Perform event log analysis and auditing for system health and compliance.
Network Administration
Manage domain controllers, users, and groups within the OT environment.
Administer and patch VMWare systems, including vCenter, vSphere, and ESXi.
Handle backups, disaster recovery, and backup testing processes.
Oversee hardware and software inventories and lifecycle management.
Maintain spare parts and software licensing documentation.
Security & Maintenance
Ensure patching of operating systems, applications, antivirus software, and hotfixes.
Test and distribute antivirus updates via Trellix ePO and related tools.
Support OT cybersecurity sustainment and compliance initiatives.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify and implement process improvements for system reliability and performance.
Generate reports for system performance, troubleshooting results, and inventory updates.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Diploma in Information Technology (or related discipline).
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT sector, with expertise in system sustainment and troubleshooting.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Proficiency in MS Windows (Desktop and Server), Active Directory, and Group Policies.
Strong understanding of VMWare technologies (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi).
Experience with backup solutions such as Acronis and NetBackup.
Familiarity with scripting using Windows PowerShell.
Competence in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
Working knowledge of SQL databases.
