Job Summary

The Test and Automation team is a multi-disciplined group consisting of mechanical, electrical, software, and firmware designers. The team is responsible for creating and maintaining the testing infrastructure used in Manufacturing, as well as improving operational efficiency, reducing operator intervention, shortening test time, and improving yields through automated test fixtures and assembly line tools.

The Test and Automation Engineer’s primary role is to design, fabricate, assemble, maintain, and improve the mechanical aspects of test jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing / assembly equipment—from initial concept to physical realization.

Although the role is primarily mechanical, the engineer must also possess solid knowledge of electrical systems, Python scripting, and embedded systems (conversational embedded understanding required; hands-on programming experience an asset).

Duties and Responsibilities

Test and Automation

• Designing test jigs, fixtures, and automation equipment in SolidWorks for PCBA test and manufacturing automation.
• Fabricating test jigs using CNC, 3D printers, and manual machining tools.
• Assembling and wiring test fixtures, including mechanical and electrical components.
• Duplication of existing test jigs as needed for expanded production capacity.
• Reviewing and providing feedback on electrical designs (Altium) produced by the team.
• Researching, selecting, and procuring mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
• Assisting with programming and debugging of test jigs.
• Troubleshooting manufacturing issues involving test equipment, mechanics, pneumatics, wiring, or automated processes.

Salary : 72,000 - 90,000 CAD

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
