JOB SUMMARY
Ottawa Public Library (OPL) provides accessible, innovative library and information services throughout the city of Ottawa, that meet the unique needs of diverse communities, delivered through facility, mobile, and virtual channels.
As the Content Strategy Strategist at Ottawa Public Library (OPL), your main responsibility is to develop and maintain a comprehensive content strategy for digital content throughout the organization. Collaborating with the Manager of Client Experience and Community Development and the Client Services team, you will conduct extensive research, establish KPIs, prioritize content themes, and create an annual content calendar.
You will :
- develop and maintain a comprehensive system-wide content strategy for digital content at OPL via mobile, virtual, and facility channels;
- manage the ongoing maintenance and currency of content, ensuring its relevance and accuracy;
- utilize digital marketing analytics techniques to uncover valuable client insights and demonstrate a strong understanding of digital and social media platforms;
- manage projects and actively listen to client requirements, challenges, available resources, and objectives, leading to effective ideation and solution generation; and
- develop and maintain partner relationships and facilitate conversation with partners.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
4-year university degree in a field relevant to the key responsibilities of the position.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of digital strategies and plans.
KNOWLEDGE
Comprehensive understanding of OPL's mission, vision, values, governance structures, and familiarity with corporate policies and procedures of both OPL and City of Ottawa.Awareness of relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and guidelines, such as the Public Libraries Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Reporting of Child Pornography Act.Research, statistical analysis and report writing techniques and processesProgram and project evaluation and performance measurement processesAdherence to the principles of intellectual freedom.Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office, SAP, and Project Management software.Understanding of environmental and industry trends impacting organizations and influencing the future of work and the workforce.Familiarity with project management principles and practices.Competence in strategic and operational planning.Familiarity with UX, IA, brand strategy, CMS, BI, marketing, technical writing, organizational governance, WCAG, and content reuse.Knowledgeable in UX methodologies for identifying user needs, such as personas and journey mapping the user experience.Advanced understanding of content management systems, with particular proficiency in Drupal, from both a user and content creator perspective.Expertise in web development and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the web design process.Advanced knowledge of usability and accessibility best practices and standards, specifically related to digital communications channels like websites, mobile, SMS, and email.Thorough understanding of digital marketing best practices, including responsive websites, online advertising, SEO / SEM, mobile marketing, email marketing, and social media.COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
