Operations Manager - Southwest Ontario, Land Development and Municipal Engineering

WSP is currently seeking an Operations Manager for Southwest Ontario to join our Land Development and Municipal Engineering (LDME) team, based out of our Kitchener office, with hybrid flexible office locations available.

With your local knowledge of the development community, municipal authorities and regulatory agencies, you will be supported by a strong experienced team and will be responsible for :

  • building a team,
  • business development, and
  • delivering projects.

WSP's LDME team is a close-knit, collaborative team which prides itself on its long-standing relationships of trust with many of the developers, Municipalities, Townships, Cities and Regions across Ontario and Canada.

Partnering with other internal disciplines across WSP, the team is responsible for delivering long-term, both small scale and complex projects in Land Development, covering the entire project life-cycle from conceptual planning & design, through to construction management and client hand-over.

As Operations Manager, your responsibilities will cover Leadership and Strategic growth, staff development, client management, business development, and project delivery for the Southwest Ontario region.

You will form partnerships both internally and externally and will be integral to developing and executing project delivery strategy.

You will manage financial and technical aspects of all projects through the full project lifecycle from early project phase, proposals and business development activities, to overseeing engineering, design & approvals to office assistance for contract administration and construction.

A day in the life :

  • Strategic Planning to increase market share for WSP in Land Development and Municipal Engineering
  • Build Team in local Kitchener Office
  • Develop and Mentor staff
  • Business Development with existing and new clients and Cross-Selling with other disciplines at WSP (including preparation of proposals and services contracts)
  • Oversee Management of projects to ensure client expectations and WSP standards are met;
  • Oversee Project approvals acting as a liaison between client and approving authorities;
  • Oversee Financial Management of Projects;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • 10+ years of experience in a consulting environment focused on Southwest Ontario land development projects;
  • Extensive project management experience on land development and municipal engineering projects;
  • Registered as a P. Eng. in Ontario;
  • Expert knowledge of the land development approvals process in Ontario with emphasis on the region of Southwest Ontario
  • Strong client management skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong financial and project management skills;
  • Valid driver's license in Ontario; and
  • Well-developed network within the land development industry;
