Thermalhydraulics Analyst

What will you be doing!

• Contributing to the development and qualification of (system and / or sub-channel) thermalhydraulics codes or coupled codes for CANDU and small modular reactors (SMRs).
• Contributing to reactor safety research as part of a multi-disciplinary team in areas such as thermalhydraulics (both experimental and modelling & simulation), reactor physics, and severe accidents.
• Managing Federal Science & Technology (FST), Laboratory-Directed Science & Technology (LDST) and CANDU Owners Group (COG) projects or tasks on an as-required basis, ensuring deliverables and milestones are achieved on time and on budget.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for :

An advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Engineering (e.g., Nuclear / Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial or similar) or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.

Background in numerical methods, single- and two-phase fluid flow and heat transfer.

Knowledge of FORTRAN programming language & scientific programming, code development, code validation and software quality assurance is desirable.

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and / or the United Kingdom . CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

This role requires that the majority of time worked be at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site while also providing opportunities to work remotely, where possible, if desired by the employee.
