The Occupational Health Nurse will have responsibility for the management of employee illness/injury related absences, and support return to work processes. Working with the Director of Occupational Health & Safety, they will support the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of occupational health program initiatives and lead health promotion and wellness activities.
This is a Permanent, full-time position, based in Ontario. It is a hybrid role, mainly virtual with occasional travel.
Lead case management of employee absences and accommodation requests due to injury/illness
Assess medical documentation, identify functional limitations, and support the development of appropriate modified duties and accommodations
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health records in accordance with legislation, best practices, and organizational policy
Act as a key point of contact for employees navigating the disability or accommodation process, ensuring clear, empathetic communication
Liaise with benefits providers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant case resolution
Consulting with SE’s Occupational Health Physician as needed
Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health and safety programs
Contribute clinical expertise to occupational health and safety discussions, risk assessments, and policy development as needed
Building and maintaining strong working relationships and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Stay up to date on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to occupational health and safety, and disability case management
Leadership and participation in relevant organizational processes, consultation, and training
All other reasonable duties as assigned
A vehicle and valid driver’s license with the ability to travel occasionally within Ontario
