What To Expect

As a Certification Services Representative, you are responsible for providing and maintaining certification services for new and existing clients and for promoting other CWB related service lines. Your work includes :

  • Auditing of companies – validating welding activities (e.g., verifying personnel and their welding credentials, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as CSA W47.1, CSA W186, CSA 47.2, etc.), verifying procedure type documents and providing relevant opportunities for improvement (OFIs).
  • Procedure testing – conducting testing for non‑prequalified joint assembly as per the requirements of CSA W59.
  • Welder testing – conducting individual houver performance testing as(env) per the requirements of CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2.
  • Public safety activities – visiting job sites, liaising with building inspectors, engineers and current as well as prospective clients.

This position reports to the Regional Manager, Western Certification and is based in a remote‑first model. The employee will work from a home office in Vancouver Island, BC, servicing the client within their specified area either remotely or in person. Radical flexibility is encouraged so that employees can work a schedule that works best for them, their team and their clients.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Minimum 5-10 years hands‑on experience in the Welding Fabrication and Inspection industry, or as a Welding Educator.
  • Technical background and knowledge of the Welding and Joining industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with indirect supervision.
  • Proficiency with fleets and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience using web‑based platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
  • A valid driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within an assigned territory with appropriate travel documents (e.g., passport).
  • The Following Qualifications Are Considered Assets

  • CSA 178.2 Level 1 or 2 Inspectors Qualifications or industry equivalent (e.g., API, CWIORTH, TWI Inspectors).
  • CWB Welding Supervisor Qualification or prior Supervisory / Managerial experience.
  • Welding Technician / Technologist Diploma.
  • Experience in theoretical and / or practical welder training.
  • Prior experience working in a QA / QC environment.
  • Prior experience auditing existing Quality Management Systems.
  • Prior experience working with DNV, Lloyds and ABS.
