Job Title : Data Governance Consultant Location : Hybrid - Mississauga Pay Rate : $70-75 / hr T4 / $85-90 / hr Inc. Job Type : 6-month contract with the possibility for extension Job Posting ID : WECJP00028926

Position Overview : Join our Advisory team as a Data Governance Specialist, where you'll engage with various business units across Walmart Canada, introduce data governance, identify roles, and provide training.

You'll also coordinate with our Digital Citizenship and EDG teams on policies and procedures, collaborating closely with Control Partners.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Utilize Walmart Canada practices and methodologies to define and implement data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, procedures, processes, and related tools.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance, ensuring data ownership and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of information assets, including authoritative systems, data domains, data owners, and the enterprise data governance platform.
  • Lead workshops to onboard business teams to data governance policies and tools.
  • Act as a liaison between business, functional areas, and technology to ensure clear identification and definition of data-related business assets.
  • Define performance indicators for compliance and adoption of data-related policies, standards, and practices.

Must-Have Qualifications :

  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Experience with at least one data governance tool, preferably Collibra.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Enthusiasm for exploring and trying out new tools and technologies as they are released.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines, often managing multiple project deliveries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation for continuous development.
  • 8+ years of IT experience with 4-5 years in data governance and related programs.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of the retail domain.
  • Good understanding of the data lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with various data tools.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance.
