Heavy Equipment Operator (Grader)

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for skilled Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team!

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Heavy Equipment Operator, reporting to the Superintendent of Roads. This position requires skilled and experienced operators to support our production goals and ensure work is completed within specified tolerances. Your base location will be Smithers B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
• Ability to efficiently operate heavy equipment
• Ability to read and understand survey stakes is considered an asset
• Operate heavy equipment in a mining environment in a safe and appropriate manner
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
• Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
• Complete daily hazard assessments, maintenance checklists, etc.
• Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections, and adhere to safety policies

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum three (3) years of experience operating an excavator, dozer, grader is required for these positions
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in road construction or mining preferred
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License required
• Basic knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements is an asset
• Ground Disturbance and Air Brakes preferred
