Our client is sourcing a Financial Analyst for a 12-month contract.
About the Opportunity
Manage and oversee finance-related activities for the business unit, including monthly and annual close cycles
Guide and support project managers on invoicing, cost tracking, and expense distribution
Examine financial and operational data to identify patterns that support forecasting and performance planning
Assess financial outcomes against plans, explain deviations, and recommend corrective actions or efficiency improvements
Deliver guidance and hands-on training to operational teams regarding project accounting standards and procedures
Serve as a financial partner to project managers and departmental leadership, providing insight throughout the project lifecycle
Produce regular financial reports highlighting performance, trends, and key metrics
Communicate financial concepts and workflows clearly to non-financial and technical stakeholders
Contribute to the development of business cases and financial justification documents
Support the preparation of internal financial presentations for management review
Evaluate project financial risks, including provisions for potential losses, warranties, or contingencies
Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and overall business performance
Perform recurring reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts
Maintain effective financial controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance
Provide cross-coverage for other analysts during periods of absence
Complete additional finance-related tasks as required
About You
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE / IFRS) and U.S. GAAP
5–7 years of progressive experience in a finance or accounting role
Strong analytical and financial interpretation capabilities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel within an Office 365 environment
Hands-on experience working with SAP or comparable ERP systems
Demonstrated experience reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts
High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to independently validate work
Proven ability to collaborate effectively and support the development of colleagues
Structured and disciplined approach to financial analysis, with the ability to explain drivers and variances
Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
Track record of proactively identifying and implementing business or process improvements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
