Job Title : Artist in Residence

Organization : RDPS

Location : Red Deer

Role Type : Volunteer Contract with Honoraria

Compensation : Honorarium $1,000 – $2,000 based on project scope, determined in collaboration with the artist.

Job Overview : The Artist in Residence will lead or contribute to one or more projects across our season, designing, producing, directing or staging new works and delivering workshops or mentorship. Artists will attend board meetings as non‑voting members, participate in company discussions, and engage with partners.

Key Responsibilities :

• Create and implement program offerings to support the theatre’s artistic vision.
• Propose and oversee one project and one community learning opportunity in collaboration with the Executive Director.
• Nurture relationships with local artists, actors, directors and key community members to promote new talent.
• Ensure programming aligns with the theatre’s budget and operational capabilities.
• Represent the theatre in the community, connecting with schools, arts organizations and other groups.
• Assist the ED with special events, talkbacks or outreach programs to deepen community involvement.
