Itec group has partnered with a customer who specializes in refurbishing large industrial equipment. The shop focuses on hands-on mechanical, electrical, welding, and assembly work to restore heavy assets to like-new condition. They value safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
The Production Supervisor will lead day-to-day shop operations, supervising technicians and tradespeople working on manual refurbishment processes. You will ensure safe, on-time, high-quality project delivery by coordinating work, optimizing processes, enforcing standards, and developing the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule shop floor activities, assigning work to technicians, welders, machinists, electricians, and assemblers.
- Ensure projects meet quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of workplace safety and housekeeping.
- Monitor production progress against schedules; identify and remove bottlenecks to meet delivery timelines.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate direct reports; support skills development and training.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, purchasing, and quality to resolve technical or material issues.
- Maintain accurate production records, job cards, and shift handovers.
- Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and reduce waste.
- Manage tooling, fixtures, and equipment needs; escalate maintenance issues and coordinate repairs.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management for shop personnel.
Qualifications & Experience
3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing, refurbishment, or heavy assembly environment.Hands-on understanding of mechanical assembly, welding, machining, and electrical work common to refurbishment projects.Strong leadership and team development skills; proven ability to manage multi-trade crews.Experience with production scheduling, shop floor management, and job tracking.Knowledge of quality inspection practices and ability to read technical drawings and specifications.Solid commitment to health & safety practices (e.g., WHMIS, lockout / tagout).Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.Post-secondary technical diploma or trade certification is an asset.Desired Skills
Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (Lean, 5S, Kaizen).Basic understanding of ERP / MRP or production tracking systems.Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.Proactive, hands-on leadership style and practical approach to troubleshooting.Location : Kingston, ON
Salary Range : $55,000 - $65,000 + Bonus
