OVERVIEW
Vertex is currently seeking a full-time Project Manager - Liability Management to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing upstream oil and gas, industrial projects, downstream and midstream programs, and other programs / projects across Alberta and Saskatchewan that require assessment, contaminant mitigation, monitoring, and / or removal, compliance reporting, and reclamation and site closure. The role will be responsible and accountable for liability management programs in accordance with Vertex guidelines and providing technical mentorship and Project Management support to staff under your care and control.
This role will focus on management of execution of existing programs / projects, day to day client interactions clients and supporting intermediate and junior staff executing scopes of work under your care and control (liability management).
Typical work scopes carried out by the Liability Management team include development of work plans and cost estimates, conducting assessment and remediation work, spill response and remediation, reclamation, site inspections, detailed site assessments and / or submission of reclamation certificate applications. The successful individual will play a critical role in driving liability management programs in a cost-effective and pragmatic manner that exceeds our client's expectations.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or higher education related to environmental sciences, biology or other related discipline
- Currently poses a professional designation applicable for conducting professional sign off in Alberta, sign off in British Columbia and / or Saskatchewan is considered an asset
- Minimum 8 years in the environmental industry with execution experience as a well as management oversight of the following :
Phase I and Phase II program execution
RemediationManagement of complex contaminated sites / programs (support SST / risk / Tier 2)Groundwater monitoringSpill responseEstimating and developing reclamation plans for wellsites, facilities and other disturbancesDetailed Site Assessments & Reclamation Certificate ApplicationsVegetation management / reclamation site inspectionsProject management experience - cost estimates, scheduling, budget tracking, client interactions and communicationsExperience in supporting a high-performing team and collaborating with Vertex leadership and other senior staff on growth and development of the liability management teamExperience in the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas industry,Strong time management, communication, and organizational skillsWorking knowledge of contaminated sites and reclamation regulations in Alberta and Saskatchewan, working knowledge of contaminated sites management in northeast British Columbia is considered an assetStrong leadership / mentorship skills to support staff on all liability management work scopesRESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be based out of our Sherwood Park, Calgary, Downtown, or Calgary, Blackfoot office. A hybrid work schedule is available for this role. A hybrid role allows for flexibility with no mandated number of days required at the office location. However, Vertex encourages Project Managers to work towards office attendance with their teams 2-3 days per week.

Salaried compensation is commensurate with education and experience and includes :11 stat holidays (applicable after 30 days of employment)6 personal days provided annually. These days reset every calendar year.
