H3M Environmental Ltd. ("H3M") provides environmental, archaeology, and regulatory expertise across Western Canada supporting clients in upstream and midstream oil and gas, municipal infrastructure, Indigenous communities, utilities, forestry, and commercial / industrial sector projects. As a full-scale service provider, H3M knows how to deliver pre-construction assessment, planning and permitting, construction, post-construction restoration, reclamation, and remediation services across multiple sectors.
Position Overview :
H3M is seeking a highly motivatedEnvironmental Professional to join our growing team in Fort St. John, BC. The successful candidate will bring expertise in environmental consulting or the upstream oil and gas industry, supporting a variety of sectors with pre-construction environmental assessments (including soils, aquatics, vegetation, and wildlife) and environmental inspection and monitoring.
Role and Responsibilities : Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Coordinate field logistics, subcontractors, and access plans to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
- Manage and account for project equipment, including timely rental pickup / return and the organized deployment / restoration of in-house technical and fleet assets.
- Secure permits, land access approvals, and required documents before mobilizing to site.
- Perform sampling, testing, and field data collection according to SOPs, project work plans and kickoff material.
- Lead daily tailgate meetings, safety checks, and hazard assessments in accordance with safety protocols to maintain safe field operations for H3M and all subcontractors.
- Prepare accurate field notes, logs, photos, and chainofcustody documentation for data integrity.
- Upload all field data daily into required platforms to support realtime project visibility.
- Submit daily field summary reports detailing progress, conditions, risks, and next steps.
- Communicate field issues, risks, and changes to the Project Manager clearly and promptly.
- Notify the PM immediately when fieldwork is complete or when schedules or assumptions shift.
- Draft initial technical report content using collected field data and project templates.
- Submit daily field tickets to support timely and accurate project invoicing.
- Compile and submit all final field documentation at demobilization for project completeness.
- Participate in QA / QC by reviewing draft technical reports for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Support Senior Environmental Professionals by clarifying field observations and verifying technical details.
Qualifications :
University degree or diploma in environmental science, biology, agrology, or a related field.Minimum of 4-7 years of environmental consulting or industry experience, ideally in upstream oil and gas, municipal, or industrial sectors.Professional designation or the ability to obtain designation with a recognized professional body (e.g., PBio, PAg).Proficient knowledge of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewans environmental regulations and guidelines.Strong technical writing and analytical skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise reports and documentation.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.Experience managing and mentoring junior staff.Core Competencies
