The Opportunity

The Summer Student position is in the Strengthening Transitions in Care (STIC) Research Lab at IWK Health and offered in partnership with the CHILD-BRIGHT Network. The STIC Lab uses a collaborative and patient-centred approach to develop and evaluate interventions to improve transitions in care for children and families. The CHILD-BRIGHT Network is a pan-Canadian patient-oriented research network based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. Created in 2016, it works to create brighter futures for children and youth with brain-based developmental disabilities and their families. The Summer Student will report to Dr. Simonne Collins who is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the CHILD-BRIGHT Network and IWK Health. The Summer Student Research Assistant is expected to attend the IWK Health Centre at least 2 days per week.

The role involves contributing to the development and execution of a scoping review seeking to understand the implementation science methodologies used in paediatric healthcare globally. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to present on their work at a dedicated CHILD-BRIGHT summer student event, as well as to submit an abstract for consideration at a local conference. There will be opportunity for formal and informal training through both the STIC Lab and the CHILD-BRIGHT Network.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Developing and conducting the screening of a scoping review
• Data analysis on the results of a scoping review
• Contributing to scoping review manuscript for publication
• Engaging with the CHILD-BRIGHT summer studentship opportunities and training offered by the Training & Capacity Building Program
• Working with and communicating information to the research team

Hours of Work

35 hours per week, Monday – Friday for 15 weeks
