Job Purpose
The Senior Interior Designer plays a pivotal role in leading and promoting a collaborative and creative culture. You will drive innovative designs while fostering positive relationships with both clients, project partners and staff. Highly motivated and skilled in independent work as well as team collaboration, you will explore opportunities to expand and enhance professional services. You’ll also contribute to marketing initiatives, including styling for photoshoots and support our Marketing Team, by helping to curate content for West of Main’s portfolio and social media channels.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Design Leadership
- Conduct client meetings and lead presentations.
- Assist the Design Manager in managing client onboarding from initial inquiries and establishing clear project scopes and budgets.
- Assist the Design Manager in the proposal process, creating detailed project deliverables, including Scopes of Work and estimates, and adapt them as project needs evolve.
- Develop innovative design concepts aligned with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
Technical & Creative Design Work
Render 2D and 3D design concepts and produce compelling presentations.Source, specify, and purchase materials, finishes, furnishings, lighting, and artwork.Prepare and oversee construction documents, ensuring adherence to building codes, ADA requirements, and company standards.Review shop drawings, millwork plans, and vendor quotes to ensure alignment with design intent and project goals.Coordinate color palettes, finishes, and layouts for cohesive and functional spaces.Project Management
Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and vendors to execute design details.Monitor project schedules, budgets, and documentation to ensure quality and consistency.Perform quality assurance checks and troubleshoot design or construction challenges as they arise.Manage multiple projects efficiently, delivering results on time or ahead of deadlines.Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced, deadline oriented environment as a member of a collaborative teamTeam Leadership & Development
Mentor and supervise junior and intermediate designers, ensuring high performance.Delegate tasks effectively and provide constructive feedback.Participate in recruitment efforts and assist in conducting staff performance reviews.Oversee financial aspects of projects managed by junior team members.Marketing & Brand Representation
Lead and style photoshoots for portfolio and social media content.Represent West of Main in client meetings, networking events, and marketing initiatives.Qualifications
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in high-end residential interior design, with at least 3 year in a senior role.Proven track record in design project management, from concept through on-site execution.Extensive experience in sourcing, specifying, and coordinating FF&E, architectural finishes, and custom pieces.Extensive experience in new home construction, major remodels and full-home furnishing.Extensive experience in efficiently managing multiple projects simultaneously.Extensive experience in leading a team to ensure the project success in all aspects.Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and project management tools (e.g., My Doma, Indema, WorkflowMax, Xero).Proficiency in Excel and Google Suite softwares (Drive, Sheets etc.)Knowledge of design principles, sustainability standards, and building codes.Personal Attributes
Results-driven, with a meticulous eye for detail and accuracy.Creative problem-solver who can manage high-pressure situations with professionalism.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and team members.Other Requirements
