About the role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a regular full-time Manager, Procurement to join our dynamic Procurement team.
The Procurement team is responsible for providing strategic procurement support to Canadian Blood Services through the development of requests for proposal, contract negotiations and supplier qualifications for critical supplies and services. The team works to continuously enhance our procurement policies and procedures and work diligently to help manage our relationships with our suppliers.
In this role, you will oversee a team of Category Managers and Procurement Specialists with portfolios in key areas or spend categories, such as Facilities, Real Estate & Construction, Plasma Protein Products, and Medical Goods & Services. Reporting to an Associate Director, Procurement, you will also manage a portfolio of contracts and sourcing activities within one or more of these key areas.
Formula for Success
Utilizing your expertise in Procurement, you will play a key role in the success of the category management strategies set by you and your team driving effective sourcing and procurement activities to ensure organizational objectives are achieved.With your deep experience in strategic sourcing, you will support and oversee or manage the formal competitive sourcing process for the categories or sourcing engagements within your key areas. For Requests for Proposals, (RFPs), this includes leading selection committees (representatives for CBS business, finance, legal, etc.) through the process for evaluation and final selection.Utilizing your skills managing supplier contracts, you will oversee or manage drafting, negotiations, and lifecycle management within the key areas designated for your team. This includes managing complex negotiations working with CBS Legal, Privacy, IT Security, Risk, business partners.With your exceptional relationship building skills, you optimize value for money through early involvement in the sourcing life cycle forming strong partnerships with key business stakeholders while seeking to identify opportunities to consolidate enterprise requirements to drive value.You assist with the CBS budget process by providing cost estimates and project planning prior to commencement of sourcing and assist with the development of functional specifications as early as possible in the process.Leveraging your expertise in market research, you analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect the continuity of supply and understand emerging opportunities.You establish networks and maintain positive relationships internally with CBS business partners and externally with key vendors to enhance and promote sound procurement practices and vendor compliance to regulations ensuring integrity and ethical practices.Drawing on your leadership skills, you coach and support the development of direct reports and promote continuous improvement and implementation of best practices.You promote an environment of excellence in procurement service delivery by developing and motivating the team to establish strong and effective working relationships with the key business areas they support.Desired Education and Skills
Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another related field.Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation preferred.cGMP training and experience in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices is desired.Five years of experience as a Manager in a Procurement function directly involved with strategic sourcing and contract management.Procurement experience specialized in Facilities, Real Estate and Construction is a definite asset.Experience writing and generating RFPs, RFIs and RFQs.Advanced knowledge of MRP / ERP and contract life cycle management tools. Experience with SAP and SAP Ariba Sourcing and Contract modules would be considered an asset.Microsoft and Office 365 apps experience including advanced Excel and some knowledge of Power BI.Proven ability to successfully manage and implement major projects on a national scale.Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret business needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
