Instructor, Explore Program
Job Description :
We are currently seeking 4 Explore Program Instructors*
Langara requires full-time ESL instructors for the Explore Program July 3 to August 2, 2024. Explore is a five-week immersion program for French-speaking Canadian and permanent-resident students that includes English language instruction, afternoon workshops, educational field trips and recreational activities.
Instructors are responsible for delivering the course as described in the Explore Program overview. This includes preparing materials that fulfill the course objectives;
planning lessons, assignments and educational outings that reflect the integrated skills nature of the curriculum, and giving on-going and final student evaluations.
Instructors are required to attend teacher orientations, program forums, the Closing Ceremony, to participate in weekly staff meetings, and to assist with placement testing.
Hours are usually 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday. Instructors will work for approximately 100 hours for the program.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree with a BC TEAL / TESL-Canada recognized TESL certificate equivalent to a specialization in TESL from a degree program.
- Minimum one year teaching experience in ESL / EFL at the adult level.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience in delivering an integrated skills curriculum.
Compensation : $45 / hour including 4% vacation pay
