Indigenous Youth Workers - Continuing / Casual Positions

SCHOOLDISTRICT NO. 43 (COQUITLAM) Invites Applicationsfor the position of : INDIGENOUS YOUTH WORKER CONTINUING / CASUAL Coquitlam School District invites applicationsfrom individuals for the position of Youth Worker Indigenous Education forboth permanent and casual positions.

As the third largest school district inthe province, we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtownVancouver. The school district has apopulation of 32,000 students with approximately 4,300 teaching,administrative, managerial and support staff.

Working under the direction ofadministrator / designate, the youth worker implementsand promotes individualized and / or group programs in First Nations studiesunder the direction of the teacher.

Required knowledge and Skills : · Completion of a two-year post-secondaryeducation diploma in child / youth care from a recognized college / institution or· Completion of two years of universitycourse work in Psychology or Sociology.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License· A thorough knowledge of First Nationscultures, traditions and values demonstrated through Indigenous Ancestry.

The successful applicant will be a person of Indigenous ancestry in accordancewith an approved special program under Section 42(3) of the British ColumbiaHuman Rights Code.

Bothcontinuing and casual positions are unionized and offer $33.28 / hour. Continuing positions are 37.5 hours / weekwhile school is in session and include an attractive benefitpackage which consists of Extended Health, Dental, and Pension Plan (MPP).
