AUXILIARY – 6 MONTH TERM

$30.49 per hour (2024 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits

The District of North Saanich invites applications for up to two (2) positions of Labourer in the Roads and Drainage department. The positions would be full-time and temporary from March to the end of August.

This position involves general labouring work of an unskilled or limited semi‑skilled nature involving the performance of a variety of manual tasks related to operations and maintenance work in a municipal public works setting. The incumbent will perform a variety of manual labouring tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and construction of public roadways and storm water systems.

Requirements

• Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade
• Preferably supplemented by courses related to the work
• Previous experience as a manual labourer in the construction industry or a local government setting
• Ability to acquire and maintain a valid traffic control certificate
• Possession of a valid B.C driver’s license (Class 5)

This position is a Union position and is subject to the terms and conditions in the Collective Agreement between District of North Saanich and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 374.
