Duties : CR-05 Detachment Services Assistant : Provides administrative, financial, and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. Provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
Work environment : The work is being performed in a police detachment environment. This results in occasional exposure to intoxicated, mentally unstable, hostile and potentially violent individuals to victims of crime or relatives of accident victims who may be distraught. The work is performed in an open office environment. It involves tight deadlines, time pressures, frequent interruptions, conflicting priorities and multiple demands from staff, callers and visitors.
Intent of the process : Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Currently there is a temporary vacancy to be staffed. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures.

Operational Requirements : Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, which could include exposure to unsettling and / or graphic material. Willing and able to work overtime on short notice if required.
You need (essential for the job)
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience. Experience providing administrative support services.

Ability to provide financial support services. Prioritizing, written communication, oral communication, working effectively with others, thinking things through, showing initiative and being action-oriented, demonstrating integrity and respect, dependability.
Language requirements (essential for the job)
May be applied / assessed at a later date. Experience providing administrative support within a comparable policing environment. Experience with emergency support services such as providing support for emergency calls, emergency medical response services, or community emergency response teams.
