Marketing and Communications Officer-Odyssey Theatre

Odyssey Theatre is seeking a creative and dynamic Marketing and Communications Officer to promote a new community arts engagement series as part of our 38th season of theatre in Ottawa’s Strathcona Park.

Odyssey is renowned for its award-winning productions that weave language with masked performance, Commedia dell’Arte, puppetry, music and culturally diverse forms of dance-theatre. This summer we will stage CREATE! – a week-long series designed to give people of all walks of life the opportunity to participate in the creation of theatre and the arts.

From August 12-18, , CREATE! will provide exciting opportunities for professional artists, theatre enthusiasts and newcomers to work together. The new series will feature music, dance, mask and puppet-making, crafts, processions, story telling and other arts events designed to encourage the participation of artists, youth, volunteers and the public in a celebration of the arts.

The Marketing and Communications officer will work with the General Manager to create effective digital marketing and social media campaigns to promote performances and events in CREATE!, our community outreach programs and special events. This position will work remotely and at our office at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue in downtown Ottawa.

Dates :  May 27 – August 18,

Duration :  20-35 hours per week (flexible)

Salary :  $20-25 / hour (based on experience)

Location :  Remote + Arts Court (2 Daly Ave.)

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

• Planning and implementing marketing initiatives to promote our summer season;
• Developing written and visual digital creative materials (including video);
• Updating our web sites and social media;
• Preparing and monitoring digital ads;
• Creating blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos;
• Overseeing distribution of printed marketing materials;
• Media relations and outreach.
