Key Responsibilities :
Monitors the environment and clients / residents to ensure safety and security; completes regular client / resident status checks and room searches as required
Develops and implements case management of assigned clients / residents; assists clients / residents in establishing goals monitoring progress and prepares discharge plan
Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation (including inout and incident log books) related to clients / residents and initiates any new documentation; complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army
Provides safe storage and recording of prescribed medications
Coordinates and facilitates resident programming as required
Conducts all required shift change procedures prior to and after shift change
Performs intake and discharge procedures for clients / residents as assigned
Monitors appropriate behaviour; intervenes in crisis situations provides emotional support and advocacy as required
Distributes funds to residents in accordance with established guidelines
Engages in the development of interpersonal relationships that promote dignity and respect
Performs required scheduled checkins of residents on passes in community; escorts residents in the community when necessary and monitors behaviour
Liaises with Police funders court personnel community agencies families and other staff members
Provides orientation to newly hired staff volunteers students
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Level Attained :
The successful job applicant will have completed high school plus specialized courses of up to six months
Note : An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable
Special Licenses Diplomas Certifications or Requirements :
The successful applicant will hold / have :
Diploma or Degree in related social services field
Current Certification in First Aid / CPR
Criminal Police Record Check
Nonviolent crisis intervention training
Criminal Police Record Check with vulnerable persons check
Adult and Child abuse registry check
Current Certification in First Aid / CPR (Ministry Unit has a trainer on site to teach new employees)
Minimum Prior Related Experience :
One year but less than three years of prior related experience including frontline casework experience in a social service environment.
Physical Effort / Dexterity Required :
The performance of the job requires moderate amounts of keyboarding and performing walk abouts and occasionally lifting / packing clients / residents property / personal effects and engaging in recreational activities.
Concentration Required :
The performance of the job requires continuously monitoring the environment monitoring security cameras and attentiveness when interacting with clients and recording information. The performance of the job requires attentive listening and observation of body language continuously monitoring the environment multitasking and reading.
Responsibility for Financial Resources :
The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly or on a relief basis or has responsibility for the wise us of his / her own resources. He / She may be authorized to spend disburse or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget
Responsibility for Human Resources :
The incumbent is responsible for his / her own time and effort only. He / She may demonstrate work methods to new employees volunteers and or students

Compensation :
The target hiring range for this position is $21.81 to $21.81 with a maximum of $21.81.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
