The College of Medicine at University of Saskatchewan invites nominations and applications for the position of Provincial Department Head, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation .

With a dual reporting relationship to the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Provincial Department Head leads all academic, clinical, research, and operational initiatives within the department across two campuses in alignment with overarching institutional and healthcare strategic goals.

As a member of the senior leadership team of the College and SHA, the Provincial Department Head serves as a strategic bridge-builder between public need, medical training, research, medical practice, and care delivery to mobilize knowledge and affect system performance with the goal of bringing research and education to better patient-centered clinical care.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and possess certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) as well as being eligible for licensure in Saskatchewan.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven leadership and mentorship skills, extensive clinical expertise, and administrative proficiency.

They should be engaging, collaborative, innovative, and self-motivated, with a strong ability to lead teams effectively, excel in faculty recruitment and development, communicate effectively, and have the vision to drive academic and clinical excellence while honoring equity, diversity, inclusivity and reconciliation.

The new Provincial Department Head will ideally take office in March 2025 or as mutually agreed, with consideration of candidates beginning September 2024.
