In this role, you will :
- Coordinate the ongoing development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP).
- Work with internal and external contacts to ensure client’s needs are met, using either new or recycled equipment.
- Maintain records on loans, returns, inventory, statistics, equipment repairs in accordance with the Health Equipment Loans Program procedures and policies.
- Liaise with the Health Equipment Technicians to ensure that required adjustments to equipment are completed in a timely and client specific manner.
- Conduct and maintain audits and checklists as per OH&S requirements within Warehouse environment.
- Liaise with Long Term Care facilities to certify that equipment is received and is appropriate to the client.
- Network with facilities, OT's and equipment providers to ensure we are providing the best possible service to our clients in the most cost effective manner.
- Employees and Volunteers at every level are responsible for safe work practices and to adhere to practices outlined in their applicable provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.
What we are looking for :
- The minimum qualifications for this position are a Baccalaureate Degree in Occupational Therapy with Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or established eligibility for membership in the association and current registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Occupational Therapists, as well as, Nova Scotia Society of Occupational Therapists.
- 1-2 years minimum clinical experience.
- Demonstrated experience with excellent knowledge of current issues / trends in the community health sector, along with experience in health equipment field and / or geriatrics is preferred.
- Knowledge of specialized health equipment and specialized mattress systems.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities, combined with sound organizational skills, are essential.
- Interpersonal skills and sensitivity to interact effectively and build on-going relationships with diverse groups of employees and volunteers across the Society and external partners is required.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency is required and experience with inventory control system is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, oral and written, in English are essential.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple issues simultaneously in a complex environment.
- Previous WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training is considered an asset.
Working conditions :
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel within province.
- A satisfactory driver’s abstract is required.
