Your Contribution to NRSI NRSI is looking for a qualified individual to join our team of experts in tree and forest inventories, health assessments, and related reporting. The successful applicant will be based out of our Waterloo, Ontario office and will be expected to regularly contribute to both field- and office-based tasks. Field surveys will be completed primarily in Ontario. The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include : Coordinating and completing tree inventories in urban and rural settings. Authoring arboricultural reports, such as Tree Preservation Plans. Reviewing and interpreting tree by-laws and policies. Reviewing development plans against collected tree data, and determining suitable tree protection measures. Working on multidisciplinary teams with outside developers, engineers, planners, and agency staff, as well as internal ecological experts to develop ecologically responsible development applications. Completing a variety of ecological surveys in addition to tree-related work, and related reporting. Preparing proposals and managing project budgets. Your Education : A diploma or degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences. Similar educational experience will also be considered. Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture OR a Registered Professional Forester with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association (Full Member) Key Job Requirements : Experience in completing tree and / or forest inventories & health assessments in rural and / or urban settings. Proficient in the identification of trees found in rural and urban Ontario. Capable of participating in local field surveys and surveys throughout southern Ontario as required. Able to work from the Waterloo office on occasion and complete tree inventory field surveys throughout southern Ontario. Positive attitude and a team player. Assets : Certifications in Ecological Land Classification (ELC) and / or the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES). Secondary technical ecological skillsets regarding Ontario wildlife or vegetation. Demonstrated experience in preparing Arborist Reports and Tree Preservation Plans.
