Parts Avatar is a high-growth, tech-driven e-commerce company on a mission to revolutionize the Canadian automotive parts industry. Our Data & AI team is the engine driving this innovation, building everything from advanced demand forecasting models and recommendation systems to pricing algorithms and fitment prediction.
We are a team of top-tier data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts. We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to serve as the operational backbone and central communication hub for this team, ensuring our complex projects are delivered efficiently and have a significant impact on the business.
The Role
As the Technical Program Manager, you will be the primary liaison between our brilliant technical team and the rest of the organization. You are not expected to be a hands-on coder; you are a master of organization, communication, and execution. You will manage our project pipeline, streamline team operations, and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
What You'll Do
- Program & Project Management: Lead the end-to-end project management lifecycle for key data science, ML, and analytics initiatives (scoping, planning, resource allocation, risk management, and on-time delivery).
- Team Operations: Manage the team's operational rhythm. This includes running sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, as well as tracking team velocity, project status, and key performance indicators.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary bridge between the Data & AI team and key stakeholders, including Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
- Technical Translation: Translate complex technical concepts, model limitations, and data-driven insights into clear business requirements and actionable updates for non-technical leadership.
- Relationship Management: Manage relationships with third-party data providers, technology vendors, and external consultants, handling everything from initial contact and onboarding to performance monitoring.
- Process Improvement: Proactively identify and remove blockers, resolve dependencies, and improve the overall efficiency of our data science workflow.
Who You Are
- Experience: 1-3+ years of experience in a project management, program management, or operations role within a high-tech, data-driven environment.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Analytics Management, or a related field is a strong asset.
- Technically Literate: You have a strong conceptual understanding of the data science and machine learning lifecycle. You must be able to "speak the language" of data scientists and engineers and understand their challenges, even if you don't write the code yourself.
- Exceptional Communicator: You are a natural relationship-builder with outstanding verbal and written communication skills. You can confidently present to executives, negotiate with vendors, and motivate a technical team.
- Hyper-Organized: You are a master of process and organization, capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously without letting details slip.
- Agile Advocate: You have deep experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Wrike, Asana, or similar).
- Problem Solver: You are proactive, resourceful, and skilled at navigating ambiguity to find solutions and drive projects forward.
What Sets You Apart (Bonus Points)
- Experience in an e-commerce, supply chain, or automotive environment.
- Experience managing vendor contracts and budgets.
- Familiarity with the high-level concepts of MLOps, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and visualisation tools (preferably Tableau).
Why You'll Love Working With Us
- Competitive Compensation: A salary and package that reflects your expertise.
- Ownership: We are a startup. You will have a direct impact on the company's success and will be granted stock options.
- Hybrid Flexibility: We balance the collaboration of our downtown Montreal office with the convenience of remote work.
- Amazing Team: You will be the organizational core for a world-class team of data scientists and engineers working on fascinating, high-impact problems.
