TRS Staffing Solutions has exciting opportunities for a Senior Structural Designer role to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.
Requirements:
- Completion of a recognized two-year technical diploma or equivalent international credential in structural or related engineering disciplines, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates without a formal diploma may qualify with 14 years of directly applicable experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage personal workload and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency with Smart Plant 3D software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with engineers, designers, clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Advanced technical proficiency in structural design, including familiarity with design tools and methodologies.
- Understanding of applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks at the local, provincial/state, and national levels.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in design work.
- Awareness of material specifications, availability, and cost considerations.
- Proficiency in commonly used software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, email, and presentation tools.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer and other disciplines to ensure cohesive and accurate design execution.
- Contribute technical expertise to design development and assist junior team members when appropriate.
- Maintain accountability for personal deliverables and ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Review and validate design outputs from peers to ensure quality and compliance.
- Analyze and interpret drawings and vendor documentation from other disciplines, identifying and resolving inconsistencies.
- Apply relevant codes, standards, and internal procedures throughout all phases of design work.
- Perform detailed bulk material take-offs and prepare supporting documentation.
- Execute additional design-related tasks as assigned by the Lead Engineer.
