We are looking for a technically capable and detail-driven CAD Technician to assist with updating and finalizing technical drawings for various facilties. This role involves working with both AutoCAD and MicroStation, converting legacy documentation, integrating field markups, and ensuring drawing accuracy and compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of drafting principles and experience working in industrial or utility environments.
Responsibilities
- Modify and enhance existing CAD drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring alignment with current specifications.
- Consolidate external references (xrefs) to maintain drawing consistency and portability.
- Translate MicroStation files into AutoCAD format for standardized use.
- Digitize historical paper drawings into editable digital formats.
- Apply redline edits and field annotations with precision and traceability.
- Maintain version control and adhere to drawing naming and revision protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, field personnel, and document control to verify drawing accuracy.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure drawings meet internal and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in CAD/Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of drafting experience, ideally within industrial, infrastructure, or utility sectors.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (version 2018 or newer) and experience managing xrefs.
- Familiarity with MicroStation and cross-platform CAD conversion.
- Proven ability to digitize legacy drawings and incorporate field data.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret technical sketches and notes.
