RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work effectively to promote and ensure the safe and normal operation of all equipment related to the operations of Ridley College facilities including administrative, academic, residential, sports / athletic, and other facilities including but not limited the following;
- Mechanical systems including all heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, roof top units, boilers, building control systems, natural gas distribution, kitchen mechanical systems, and other associated systems and equipment.
- Plumbing systems and fixtures including potable water supply and wastewater systems.
- Electrical systems and equipment including power distribution, interior lighting, street and other exterior lighting, fire alarm and life safety systems, and other associated electrical systems and equipment.
- Utility services including natural gas services.
Work in accordance with Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, Refrigeration Code, TSSA Regulations, the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and any other applicable codes and legislation.
Conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections on heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment to maintain normal operation.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair or replace defective parts in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Perform other Facility maintenance work as assigned by the Manager of Maintenance and Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of the following licenses :
- Gas Fitter (G1 or G2)
- Refrigeration Mechanic (313A)
Minimum of five years working with institutional and commercial rooftop cooling equipment.
Minimum of five years’ experience with institutional and commercial building heating equipment including hot water heating boilers over 400 000 btu.
Holder of an Ozone Depleting Prevention card.
Valid class G drivers license.
Must live within 60km driving distance of Ridley College.
General repair knowledge and restoration techniques regarding the maintenance and operation of plumbing fixtures (toilets, urinals, faucets).
Maintenance knowledge and restoration techniques regarding electrical lighting and fixtures.
General knowledge and familiarity of electronic device use including phone, tablet and computer.
General knowledge in the safe use of power hand tools, drain augers and small power tools to carry out facility repairs.
Ability to work to a professional trade standard consistently delivering high level of customer service.
Strong attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions may require you to be in contact with sewage, in cramped quarters, in hot / cold atmospheric conditions and very drafty and dirty areas at times.
Work involves heavy lifting, working at heights, pushing, pulling, maneuvering, and climbing stairs / ladders.
Noise is a factor.
