Grade :  E0 : 06

Hours :  Various Hours

Salary :  $39.07 $56.00 per hour. Start rate nonnegotiable and in accordance to collective agreement requirements.

  • Relocation :   Reimbursement available consistent with UHN policy

Shifts :   Variable; Days Afternoons and OnCall as needed

Status :  Casual

Duties

  • Applying knowledge of nursing science theory skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN
  • Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure
  • Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession
  • Performing reflective practice analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care
  • Qualifications :

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent acute care experience (e.g. Intensive Care Emergency Acute Care / Stepdown Cath lab Operating Room) nursing experience
  • Previous Interventional Radiology experience preferred
  • Completion of a recognized Critical Care certificate preferred
  • Completion of a recognized Emergency Nursing certificate preferred
  • Venipuncture and I.V. insertion skills.
  • Meets MRI safety guidelines and is able to work in an MRI environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and decisionmaking organizational and time management skills
  • Must be flexible and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams
  • Demonstrated evidence of ongoing education in nursing
  • Must be able to work wearing lead apron / vest allday
  • Must be able to work wearing a lead apron / vest all allday
  • Be able to respond to oncall notifications (arrive at the hospital) within 30 minutes maximum
